JIP near the end of the first quarter, this is the final preseason game for the Oilers and Saints in 1971. Archie Manning was making one of his earliest starts as a pro in this game and Tom Dempsey had been cut earlier in the week not even a year after kicking the longest field goal in NFL history (at the time). The Oilers got a nice performance from Charley Johnson which unfortunately for them would not translate into success during the regular season. Dan Lovett and Gene Arnold from Houston radio call the action. |
