Comments: The final game of this 6 game series goes to the U.S.S.R as they control the game throughout with 5-1 win. The Soviets go 4-2 in the Series. For the 1st time Russia sends their national team to play the NHL. This group will form the core of the 1984 Olympics gold medal team in Sarajevo. Mikhail Vasiliev gets the Soviets on the board 1st with a goal at 12:49 of the 1st period. The lead is extended to 2-0 on a goal by Viktor Krutov at 15:03 of the 1st period. When the Soviets get a lead they are hard to come back on. In the 2nd period the lead grows to 3-0 on a goal by Igor Larionov on a power play goal at 9:01. The Flyers get their only goal on a power play by Mark Howe at 16:04. The Soviets strike right back on a goal by Mikhail Varnakov at 17:30. The final tally is a goal by Anatoli Semonav at 5:08 of the 3rd period. The Soviet goaltender Vladislav Tretiak who at this time is the best goaltender in the world stops 32 of 33 Flyers shots. This will be the last time a team from Russia plays in Philadelphia until the Central Red Army visits on 1-9-90.
