Comments: The Bruins played an excellent game all the way around. Goalie, R.Lemelin had a very good game turning aside 23 Montreal shots on net, and very well could`ve had a shutout. Moe Lemay started the Bruins scoring in the first period with a cannon of a shot from around the top of the crease. G.Kluzak scored a sneaky goal when he left his position by the blue line to come within a couple of feet in front of Roy. Winger Keith Crowder spotted Kluzak, and fed him a little pass across the front of the net, and Kluzak shot it into a wide open net. The one play that made the highlite reel of all the newscast, happened right before the end of the second period. Veteran Bruin Rick Middleton blocked a shot just inside the Boston blue line, and raced down the ice on a breakaway with a Canadien in hot pursuit, but unable to catch up. Middleton put a nifty move on Roy, but the goalie did everything to stay with the Bruins winger. Middleton shot the puck to Roy`s glove side while the goalie was sprawled on the ice. The pucked, just barely clipped Roy`s arm, and the puck fluttered to the ice, inside the crease, but didn`t go over the goal line. At that moment, with Roy down, Middleton down, as well as a Montreal defenseman, out comes Bob Sweeney who swoops in, to knock the puck in the net. In the third period, the Canadiens still had trouble generating offensive chances, with very few shots on net. The lone goal they scored was a scorcher by Chris Chelios, that just made it through Lemelin`s pads by brute force! The Bruins were able to prevent any further chances by Montreal to take an all important lead in the series 2-1.
