The Bruins made their first ever visit to the desert to take on the Coyotes. Phoenix jumped on the Bruins early and often. Cliff Ronning scored three minutes into the game as Boston goalie Bill Ranford was getting mugged in front of his net. The Coyotes would add two more goals for a 3-0 lead after one period. The lone goal in the second period was scored by the Bruins. Sheldon Kennedy made it 3-1 after two periods. In the third period Boston native Keith Tkachuk added a goal to increase the Coyotes lead to 4-1. At the seven-minute mark of the third, the Bruins started to mount their comeback, Rick Tocchet got his 14th goal of the season. Now with the Bruins feeling energized and less than two minutes left in the third, Rich Tocchet gets his second goal of the game to cut the lead to 4-3. The Bruins kept up the pressure and as the clock was winding down, no-name Bruin Barry Richter ties up the game with four seconds left!! As the two teams head into overtime Phoenix player Jayson Moore scores the game winner 1:14 into OT to secure the win for Phoenix 5-4. It`s been a tough season for the Bruins. |
