Comments: Facing elimination the Bruins rugged winger C.Neely scores the 1st goal of the game to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Boston then erupts for three more goals in the first to take a 4-2 lead after one. In the second period D.Poulin continues the red hot pace with a goal to make it 5-2. Then D.Audette adds a goal for Buffalo to make it 5-3 after two. In the third, the Sabers mount a frenzied comeback with goals by Mogilny and Khmylev to force overtime. In OT Brad May completes the comeback with his famous goal. Buffalo completes the sweep and upset over the Bruins, as they are left to ponder what might have been. The Wales Conference was wide open with the Penguins loss, and the Bruins would have been the front runner had they made it past the first round. The Sabers would go on to face Montreal.
