Comments: For the second year in a row the Bruins and Sabers hook up in the opening round of the playoffs. After missing last years playoffs, power forward Cam Neely is back, and looking to make his mark. In the opening period of game one, the Sabers jump all over the Bruins for two goals. At 9:26, Pat LaFontaine makes it 2-0 Buffalo, and that`s how the first period ends. In the second, the Bruins fight back with a pp goal by J.Juneau, and a goal by Neely to tie it at two. Mogilny scores his first of the playoffs right before the end of the second period to give Buffalo a 3-2 lead. Early in the third Mogilny strikes again, as the Sabers regain their two goal lead. So the Bruins would be forced to fight back once again as the rugged winger Neely scores his 2nd of the night, followed by a clutch goal by S.Heinze. The Garden erupts, and goes crazy as the Bruins have new life, with the game tied at four. The Bruins can`t get the winner as Buffalo has the Bruins kryptonite in Grant Fuhr. As we go into ot, old friend, and Bruin Bob Sweeney gets the winner for Buffalo, and breaks the Bruins heart. The funny thing is that Sweeney, when he was in Boston couldn`t shoot the puck into the ocean, now he looks like a 50 goal sniper. Sabers take a 1-0 series lead.
