This game is obviously known for Ron Hextall being the first goalie to score a goal in an NHL game. Unfortunately, it is also known for Flyer Defenseman Brad Marsh suffering a wicked head injury. Early in the first period, Brad Marsh was trying to push the puck in the Boston zone. As he is doing that, he takes a vicious hit by Big Cam Neely and to a lesser degree Ray Bourque. Marsh`s head then collides with the corner of the glass, where the end of the players bench is. After he hits the glass, Marsh then hits his head on the ice, unfortunately for Marsh he is not wearing a helmet. As the paramedics are loading him into the ambulance, you can see the blood on the towel, that one of the trainers is holding. As for the game, the Flyers were trailing 2-1 going into the third period. Philadelphia then explodes for four goals in the last period to secure the victory. Brian Propp and Peter Zezel each scored two goals in the game, as well as the aforementioned Ron Hextall making history. On the Bruins side, tough winger Keith Crowder and defenseman Gord Kluzak scored for the B`s in a losing cause, with the final being 5-2. |
