The infamous "too many men" game. The Bruins jump on the Habs early, and play a strong game. Going into the third period, the Bruins are up by two, and have trouble holding on to the lead. Late in the game, the refs call a controversial penalty on the Bruins, and the great Guy Lafleur ties the game late in the third. With momentum swinging the Canadiens way, Lambert wins it in OT, despite a tremendous game by Gil Gilbert. Ultimately, Lafleur, the Montreal Forum ghosts, and the refs prove to be too much for the Bruins. Don Cherry ends up being fired by the Bruins, and the Habs go on to win the cup |
