From an offensive standpoint, this might have been one of the most dull games of 1983. Tampa Bay, coming into the game at 2-12, wanted to ruin the Packers season and make them miss the playoffs. They might have pulled it off too, had Bill Capece not missed a critical extra point in the 4th quarter. He did though which allowed Green Bay to tie the game in regulation with a field goal and then win it with another in overtime. Jan Stenerud became the all-time leader in field goals made by surpassing George Blanda. Dandy Don Meredith was in rare form in this game. While discussing the next week`s matchup (Dallas vs San Francisco), he referred to Joe Montana as Barry Manilow. This was also Howard Cosell`s final Monday Night Football appearance. |
