Comments: In the John Thompson era at Georgetown playing at St.Johns was one of their toughest places to play. Tonight is no different. The Redmen play well in the first 10 Minutes then the Hoyas go on a 23-5 run to end the 1st Half and lead 40-27. However St. John`s goes on a 13-1 run in the 2nd half to close the gap to 49-46 with 7:00 left. A Robert Werdann 3 point play cuts the Hoyas lead to 1 point at 53-52 with 4:00 left. The Redmen miss critical free throws down the stretch and Georgetown wins 63-55. With the win the Hoyas clinch their 1st outright Big East title since 1984. This is a very good basketball game. Alonzo Mourning has 14 points 4 rebounds and 4 Blocks. For St.Johns Werdann has 13 points and 7 rebounds. Matt Brust plays an inspired game with 17 points.
