Mike Cofer kicked a 38 yard field goal with nine seconds left giving the San Francisco 49ers a 13-12 victory over the New Orleans Saints. The game featured six field goals and one touchdown. Cofer earlier hit from 52 yards while Morten Anderson kicked field goals of 28, 32, 39 and 41 yards. The Saints led 9-3 at halftime but in the third quarter Joe Montana threw a four yard touchdown pass to Brent Jones giving the 49ers a 10-9 lead. Anderson`s fourth field goal came in the fourth quarter and it gave the Saints a 12-10 lead before Cofer would kick the game winner. Joe Montana finished 26 of 43 for 210 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. For the Saints, John Fourcade was 12 of 34 for 186 yards and three interceptions. The Saints also lost two fumbles and committed eight penalties for 66 yards. |
