Comments: The AFC Championship again pitted Central Division rivals, but it was not the cakewalk of the previous year. Vernon Perry, coming off a 4-interception game, picked off Terry Bradshaw and returned it 75 yards for the game`s first score. Bradshaw threw 2 touchdown passes in the 2nd quarter to give the Steelers a 17-10 lead. That score remained until late in the 3rd quarter when Houston`s Mike Renfro caught a pass in the back of the end zone, but officials ruled he did not have possession in bounds. The Oilers settled for a field goal and the Steelers scored 10 more points for their 16th straight win at home and 4th Super Bowl appearance.
