104 years later, the olympics were back where all started, in Athens. 10625 athletes from 201 nations. The big winner was Michael Phelps. The american swimmer won 6 gold, 2 bronze. USA won the most medals (101), Russia was second (90). Many of the compétitions were held on the sites on the 1896 Games, and also ancient Games!!! German Birgit Fisher became the first woman to win Olympic Gold in 6 different Olympics. And the US men basketball team lost for the first time since the arrival of the pro players in 1992. |
