Washington 16-3. A perfect strike from Billy Kilmer to Roy Jefferson that went for 32 yards and a second-quarter touchdown would be all the scoring the Redskins would need to move to the NFC Championship game. The drive began after the Packers took a 3-0 lead on a Chester Marcol field goal. Herb Mulkey took the ensuing kickoff three yards deep in the end zone and returned it to the Washington 40. Five plays later, Jefferson got a half step ahead of cornerback Willie Buchanon and caught Kilmer’s pass at the goal line for the game’s only touchdown 2:06 before halftime. Curt Knight would add three field goals, one with 33 seconds left in the first half and two more in the fourth quarter to salt the game away. |
